The Evanston eatery The Amazing Kale Burger, 741 Howard St., will be shutting its doors Dec. 31.
Windy City Times learned of the closing via the restaurant’s Facebook page, which said, “Come help us celebrate the last three years of good friends and food! We will be open until Dec. 31st!”
The restaurant opened in March 2015; it features several types of kale burgers and rotating specials. Amazing Kale Burger’s owner, Brandon Byxbe is transgender, and many of his servers were members of the LGBT community.
“You have to be queer or a strong queer ally [to work at the restaurant]—because I want that environment, an all-inclusive [staff],” Byxbe told Windy City Times shortly after the restaurant opened.
