On Oct. 13, The Women’s Action Council in partnership with Center On Halsted presented “Harlem Renaissance”—a night of celebration, award-giving and socializing at the Little Black Pearl Art and Design Center.
The By Women For Women (BWFW) event also featured three DJs (DJ Castro, DJ Rhated R and DJ Ray Chardonnay); performances by dancers Josephine Shaker and Sally Marvel; awards for community service going to Lora Branch (associate director of FOCUS), Meghan Carney (artistic director of About Face Theatre) and Tamara Allen of B. Blyss! Events; a raffle; and a light gourmet buffet.
