CHICAGO – Chicago City Alderman Deb Mell has announced her endorsement of Lori Lightfoot to become Chicago’s next mayor.

“Lori will bring a unique perspective to the role of Mayor, and I am excited for this historic opportunity to work with her to improve the lives of all Chicagoans,” said Mell. “Chicago is one of America’s most vibrant and diverse cities, and it deserves a Mayor who will represent all of those who live here. Lori Lightfoot will be an exceptional advocate for the people of this great city, and she is the clear choice to guide us these next four years.”

Mell has served as Alderman of the 33rd Ward since 2013. She is a founding member of the City Council’s LGBTQ Caucus and Chicago’s first Lesbian Alderman. She is excited about the opportunity to work with Chicago’s first openly LGBTQ Mayor of Chicago.

Mell and Lightfoot share the belief that Chicago should be a city that works for all; they have both focused their campaigns on bridging the gaps that have divided Chicago for too long.

Both Mell and Lightfoot are up for election in the municipal run-off election on Tuesday, April 2.
