House Bill 3534—a measure that allows people to identify themselves as neither male nor female on their driver’s licenses—passed the Illinois House on a 67-38 vote, http://WEEK.com reported.
The bill, which state Rep. Anne Stava-Murray (D-Naperville) sponsored, allows people to identify as “non-binary” on their driver’s license, in addition to male or female. The bill would also require all local governments to offer a “non-binary” option on forms and documents.
The state Senate is now slated to vote on the measure.
