Access Living, a local disability rights and advocacy organization, is seeking people with disabilities who have had contact with the Cook County criminal justice system for interviews on their experiences and what they would change about the system.

Access Living received a one-year grant from the MacArthur Foundation’s Safety and Justice Challenge to look specifically at reducing the incarceration of people with disabilities.

The goal of the MacArthur Safety and Justice Challenge is to bring together leaders and organizations to end the overuse and misuse of jails, and to rethink justice systems and implement data-driven strategies to safely reduce jail populations.

Anyone willing to speak with researcher Elesha Nightingale should contact her at 312-640-2131 or enightingale@accessliving.org.
