The musical event Mamby on the Beach—slated to take place Aug. 23-24 on Chicago’s Montrose Beach—has been canceled after the arrival of federally protected birds as well as efforts from community stakeholders, according to The Chicago Tribune.

React Presents and Jam Productions were behind the event.

Out singer Troye Sivan and hip-hop collective Brockhampton (which includes gay founding member Kevin Abstract) were among the acts slated to perform. Some of the other acts include Sofi Tukker, Santigold, Virtual Self, Slvan Esso and Justin Martin.

The cancellation of the fest followed the hatching of three Great Lakes piping plover chicks on the beach. Also, community stakeholders had sent letters and signed petitions in an effort to cancel an event they said would interfere with park accessibility and preservation.

The ticketing partner of the festival will be issuing full refunds next week for online orders, according to a statement.
