Honorees included F.K. Day and Leah Missbach Day, co-founders of World Bicycle Relief, which implements large-scale bicycle programs in the rural developing world; and Helene D. Gayle, president and CEO of The Chicago Community Trust. Peggy Davis, vice president of the Trust, accepted the award on behalf of Gayle.
Attendees listened to special remarks from Lucy Meyer, official spokesperson for the Special Olympics-UNICEF USA Partnership and a five-time Special Olympics gold medalist.
