Women’s March Chicago and partner organizations will host its fourth large-scale march on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020. The event will honor our marchers with disabilities along with *Illinois’ top elected women officials. The March will also focus on five critical issues: 2020 Census, gun violence prevention, climate justice, health care access and voting. Large crowds are expected.
The March will step off at 11 a.m. at the corner of Columbus Dr. and Jackson Blvd. in Grant Park, Chicago. The park opens to marchers at 9 a.m. The main entrance is located at Columbus and Ida B. Wells Drs.
After a planned hiatus in January 2019, WMC is back in action and ready to give Chicago-area women and their allies a space to gather en masse and raise their voices in unison for the issues that matter most to them. Kicking off an historic election year, The 2020 January Anniversary March will honor our marchers with disabilities and the top female elected officials, who our marchers swept into office in record numbers. WMC will also introduce a new “Wayfinder” program, where persons with disabilities will travel the route for the first time with volunteer marchers. Elected officials will serve as honorary Wayfinders as the March winds its way through the streets of downtown to Federal Plaza.
Marchers will also experience an interactive “Gallery of Issues” as they move block by block. Each block will feature organizations that will engage with marchers around the five critical issues noted above.
