In honor of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the Illinois Alliance for Sound AIDS Policy (IL ASAP)—a project of AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC)—is hosting “Building Black Power in the Age of COVID-19” will take place virtually on Monday, Feb. 8, 5-6:30 p.m.
The event is described as “a community conversation to build your power in taking an active role to end the HIV Epidemic in Black communities.”
Panelists will include AFC’s Coleman Goode; Chris Wade, of the Illinois Public Health Association; Loyola University’s Dr. Keith Green; Brandon Wright, of the Chicago Black Gay Men’s Caucus; and community activists Angelina Nordstrom and Randolph Johnson. They will discuss topics such as combatting violence against trans and non-binary people; HIV criminalization and molecular surveillance; the intersections of COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS; and the needs of long-term survivors.
