On June 6, a Pride Drive took place in Buffalo Grove.
More than 100 residential and commercial properties were decorated with pride decor, balloon art by Balloons by Tommy, music, rainbow treats and more.
The Pride Drive was held in place of a parade for the second straight year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to The Daily Herald.
Having an annual Pride event in Buffalo Grove is largely the work of the Pinta family. The idea came to then-12-year-old Molly Pinta three years ago, after she attended the wedding of an uncle who is gay, recalled Molly’s mother, Carolyn, Windy City Times noted in a 2018 profile.
As for next year, Carolyn Pinta told WCT the date of Buffalo Grove’s Pride event will be “June 5, 2022. We are still hoping to host Nina West as grand marshal.”
