Biopharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences recently submitted a new drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration—and it’s for the drug lenacapavir, a long-acting HIV inhibitor that is under clinical study, according to http://HIVPlusMag.com.
The drug, which is an injection, is to be specifically used by people with multi-drug-resistant HIV.
Lenacapavir inhibits HIV, specifically HIV-1, by interfering with the virus’ replication process.
Gilead Sciences—which has three of the top four best-selling HIV drugs on the market—is planning to present complete data from the study at the International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference on HIV Science that is taking place July 18-21, according to http://BioSpace.com.
