Zulema—Grammy-nominated Sones de Mexico Ensemble’s new work—will be in various Chicago venues through Sept. 2.

The ensemble is a Chicago folk music group that specializes in the Mexican musical tradition known as son.

Zulema continues through Aug. 21 at various Chicago park locations; admission is free, and the running time is one hour, with no intermission. Visit http://GoodmanTheatre.org/Zulema for additional information and to register for a performance.

The two-hour finale performance is slated for Sept. 2 at Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion, 201 E. Randolph St. This is part of the Millennium Park Summer Music Series, and admission is free. See http://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/dca/supp_info/millennium_park9.html.

The plot of Zulema is as follows: On a musical journey of many thousands of miles—from her Chiapas home in Mexico to Chicago—young Zulema zig-zags through the culturally diverse landscapes of her homeland and the Windy City along the way.

—Aug. 15 at 3 p.m. — Harrison Park, 1824 S. Wood St.

—Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. — Davis Square Park, 4430 S. Marshfield Ave.

—Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. — La Villita Park, 2800 S. Sacramento Blvd.

—Aug. 21 at 3 p.m. — Marquette Park, 6721-6757 S. Kedzie Ave.

If a performance scheduled for Aug. 12-21 is cancelled due to inclement weather, it will be rescheduled for Aug. 22 at 3 p.m.
