Incumbent Illinois state Sen. Mike Simmons was among the political candidates that the LGBTQ Victory Fund backed in its latest round of endorsements.
LGBTQ Victory Fund—the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ+ leaders to public office—endorsed 19 more LGBTQ candidates for the 2021 and 2022 election cycles. The fund has now endorsed 48 candidates with 2022 races.
The primary election for Simmons’ seat will be held June 28, 2022; the general election will be Nov. 8.
Among the other endorsed individuals were two candidates for the U.S. Congress— Jasmine Beach-Ferrara (North Carolina-14) and Sean Meloy (Pennsylvania-17)—as well as Arizona attorney general candidate Kris Mayes.
