—DeMar DeRozan scored 34 points as the Chicago Bulls improved to 15-8 with a 119-115 win over the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden.

Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic each added 27 as the Bulls hung on after blowing a big lead, per http://ESPN.com. In the fourth quarter, the Knicks erased a 21-point deficit to take the lead.

Julius Randle had 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for the Knicks, but missed two free throws and had a turnover that led to LaVine’s free throws. The Knicks (11-11) fell to.500 for the first time this season after starting 5-1.

The Bulls will visit Brooklyn on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Side note: Bulls coach Billy Donovan was chosen Dec. 2 as the Eastern Conference coach of the months for October and November.

—The Blackhawks opened their three-game road trip with a 4-3 shootout win over the Washington Capitals on Dec. 2.

According to http://NHL.com, the game was a back-and-forth affair that featured three different go-ahead goals followed within minutes by an equalizer.

Alex DeBrincat, Dominik Kubalik and Seth Jones scored in regulation, while Marc-Andre made 25 saves in the win. Patrick Kane scored the lone goal in the shootout to capture the second point.

The Blackhawks open a weekend back-to-back in New York on Saturday, Dec. 4, against the Rangers before facing the Islanders on Sunday, Dec. 5.
