The performance, “Sonidos de Mi Isla (Sounds of My Island),” marks the 68-member orchestra’s first-ever visit to Chicago, the first performance in the continental United States since 2004 and their first performance outside of Puerto Rico since 2005.
“As the only national museum dedicated to sharing the arts and culture of the Puerto Rican people, we are proud to host the Puerto Rican Symphony Orchestra for their first performance stateside in 20 years,” said National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture CEO Billy Ocasio in a statement. “It’s been said that the orchestra is humanity’s greatest artistic achievement, and we celebrate that achievement with this historic performance.”
The performance will run approximately 150 minutes, with one intermission. Tickets are $50-$150 each, with student tickets priced at $25 each. Tickets are on sale now at http://www.cso.org.
