One Roof Chicago, an LGBTQ+ centered community for elders and youth, held their public kickoff event May 16 at the Hinshaw and Culbertson law firm.
The brainchild of Pamela Calvert, One Roof seeks to build a 100-unit community for elders and youth, including 20 units for more supportive care. They hope to locate the facility in Chicago’s Bronzeville area on the Near South Side, within the next three years.
Jim Harvey has been announced as the agency’s first executive director. Harvey and board co-chairs Jacqueline Boyd and Shelton Watson were among those who spoke at the event, in addition to board members Dr. Paviella Foster and Janice Layne.
