On April 28, Trident International Windy City presented its 10th annual Cupcake Wars at the Leather Archives and Museum, 6418 N. Greenview Ave.
The event, which is usually held at local gay bars, took place for the first time at the museum with proceeds going to Howard Brown Health's Broadway Youth Center. Eight LGBTQ+ bars, businesses and clubs were represented as audience members enjoyed samples and chose their favorites, then participated in an auction to raise money. Prizes were given for 'Fan Favorite' with chosen judges awarding a trophy for 'Master Baker.'
As is the tradition, audience members were encouraged to buy $5 tasting cards to participate in judging the entries. The winners included Brad from 64TEN as 'Master Baker' and Berry taking first place in the 'Fan Favorite' for Pet Patrol. Second Place went to The Imperial Court of Chicago's Reigning Empress Alexi Indy Wulfe, with Emaly for the Illinois Gay Rodeo Association taking third place for 'Fan Favorite.' Other businesses who participated included Onyx, Titans of the Midwest, The Illinois Bear Contest, and Full Kit Gear. In all, over $2000 was raised for homeless and at risk LGBTQ+ youth.
