On May 7, the Imperial Windy City Court of the Prairie State Empire held a benefit variety show at Charlie’s Chicago, 3726 N. Broadway. The event, a prelude to International Mr. Leather, was titled “Leather and Lace,” and supported Joliet Pride Network and Groceryland (which is part of Heartland Alliance’s Vital Bridges food program).

Members of the royal court, past and present, as well as their supporters, turned out for a night of drag and low-brow comedy. In addition to the drag and live performances, audience members had the chance to show their support by participating in a live auction; prizes on the auction block included Maker’s Mark Whiskey and vintage gay porn.
