Chicago-based mental-health advocate and former Bachelorette contestant J Seiter (she/her)—who previously came out as bisexual—has announced on social media that she’s undergoing gender transition.

On May 19, Seiter simply and ominously posted the word “Goodbye” on her Instagram account. Two days later, Seiter posted, “I have struggled with my gender identity—& resulting feelings of guilt and shame—for as long as I can remember. … However, I no longer want to hide who I am, and I no longer want to deal with the mental turmoil that comes with suppressing such an important [part[ of me. … I simply ask that you accept me now, just as you did before. I love you all.”

On May 22, Seiter asked, “Are you excited to follow along on my transition journey?” When someone asked, “Will you still consider yourself bisexual when you are living as a woman?,” She replied, “Yes[,] of course.” In response to another inquiry, Seiter responded, “I’m saying I am more comfortable transitioning to a more feminine body and face that [match] how I feel inside.”

Seiter stated to Windy City Times, “I keep getting asked if I’m starting hormone therapy, so I will answer that. I start the second week of June.” She added that “the feedback [to the announcement of the gender transition] has been overwhelmingly positive. I am truly blessed and lucky to have such amazing followers.”

Seiter made news last year after reports had emerged that she had passed away; she attributed that development to a hacker attacking her social-media account. Seiter discussed that situation and much more with Windy City Times in 2023.
