On June 23, the Chicago Sky defeated the Indiana Fever (and star Caitlin Clark) 88-87 at Wintrust Arena.

With the win, the Sky moved to 6-9 on the season; Indiana is 7-11.

Rookie duo Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso led the Sky; they each recorded career highs in points scored, with Reese recording a team-high 25 points while Cardoso scored 16. Reese and Cardoso also recorded double-doubles, with Reese snagging 16 rebounds one game after getting 18, while Cardoso pulled down 10. (Also, Reese and Cardoso become the first rookie duo since 1998 to record double-doubles in multiple games. Chennedy Carter scored 23 points to round out Chicago’s double-digit scorers.

 Clark recorded a 17-point, 13-assist double-double for the Fever, recording her career high in assists.

Chicago trailed by as many as 15 points but outscored the Fever 24-15 in the fourth quarter to secure the comeback victory.

The Sky remain at home to take on the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, June 27, at Wintrust Arena; it will be their first matchup of this season. A’ja Wilson leads the Aces and the league in scoring this season, averaging 27.8 per game.

Red Stars fall to Courage

Also on June 23, the Chicago Red Stars fell in a road game to the North Carolina Courage 3-1 in NWSL action.

Forward Mallory Swanson scored in the 12th minute of the match; however, the Courage came back to score three unanswered goals. 

With her save in the opening minute of the second half of the match, Alyssa Naeher now has 600 regular-season saves in her career. Another highlight was that this marked the second time this season that Swanson has scored in back-to-back games.

The Red Stars next travel to California to take on the San Diego Wave on Friday, June 28, at Snapdragon Stadium.
