The Chicago Red Stars finished the National Women’s Soccer League X Liga MX Summer Cup with a 3-2 win over the Washington Spirit in City Stadium at Richmond, Virginia, on July 31.
Forwards Jenna Bike and Jameese Joseph scored the team’s first two goals; Naperville-native Sarah Griffith sealed the win with a goal from outside the box in the match’s 89th minute.
Griffith marked her first goal of 2024 and her third in all competitions. In addition, goalie Mackenzie Wood earned her first career win.
The Red Stars will not play their next match until Saturday, Aug. 24. It will be at 6:30 p.m. CT at Lynn Family Stadium against Racing Louisville FC.
