Speaking with the British newspaper The Independent while promoting the movie Babes, actor/comedian Ilana Glazer came out as non-binary, according to Metro Weekly. Glazer—who uses they/she pronouns—revealed how their pregnancy led them to embrace personality aspects that are not stereotypically feminine. “Being pregnant on paper was the most female thing I could ever do, but it actually highlighted both the masculine and feminine inside of me,” said Glazer, who gave birth in July 2021.

Some Broadway artists are organizing to rally support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming presidential election as part of the new volunteer coalition Broadway for Harris, Playbill noted. Just a few of the people on the organizing committee include Alan Cumming, Billy Porter, Telly Leung, Audra McDonald, Sarah Paulson, Jordan Roth, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Seth Rudetsky, Kristin Chenoweth, LaChanze and Tony Kushner. Queer Eye co-host Antoni Porowski and high-end NYC gym S10 Training founder Stephen Cheuk have collaborated on the line of mesh shortsQueerty noted. The aptly titled “Antoni Mesh Short” ($90) features zippered side pockets, a back pouch pocket and a metal-tipped drawstring. “One thing my trainer @stephencheuk and I share in common is an obsession with finding the best version of a thing, be it a meal, insta dog, hike or perfectly designed performance gear. since we already each have a dog, we decided to collab in designing the perfect workout short,” Porowski captioned a slide show of him modeling the shorts.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, RuPaul reflected on the Democratic National Convention before noting that there had been “a lot of powerful” speeches in Chicago, according to Yahoo! Entertainment. “Barack Obama, Michelle Obama—but none more powerful than the one from the Wisconsin governor, Tony Evers,” said the drag icon. RuPaul then tossed to a clip showing Evers stumbling through his state’s roll call as Wisconsin delegates surrounded him while donning cheeseheads.

And speaking of RuPaul, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Detox has come out as trans, according to Attitude Magazine. Detox, who initially appeared on season five of the reality show, was performing alongside fellow Drag Race alumni and former DWV band member Willam in Chicago when she revealed her news during a rendition of the group’s parody song “Chow Down (At Chick-Fil-A).” Detox and Willam’s performance in Chicago was organized by Drag PAC. As the website Them reported, the group is made up of former Drag Race contestants such as Jinkx Monsoon, Monet X Change and Peppermint, all with the aim of encouraging Gen Z to show up and vote in the presidential election in November.

Marvel Studios issued an official statement saying that out gay X-Men ’97 creator and head writer Beau DeMayo was fired from the series in March for “egregious” misconduct, per Variety. The studio released the statement shortly after DeMayo posted on several social-media accounts that he was supposedly stripped of writing credits for the show’s second season because of a gay pride post he shared to social media. A source with knowledge of the investigation claimed that evidence was discovered of sexual misconduct, and that DeMayo repeatedly violated his termination agreement. After Marvel’s statement was released, DeMayo posted, “The truth will be revealed. After their Disney Plus disaster, Marvel wants to mislead with alleged contract breaches over tweets. It’s tragic it’s come to this but unsurprising. Stay tuned.”

Studio One Forever—in theaters on Sept. 13 and on VOD on Oct. 8, via Gravitas—is a documentary about the legendary West Hollywood dance space, per a press release. In Studio One Forever, Marc Saltarelli and narrators Bruce Vilanch and David Del Valle dive into the history of the historic venue, offering a testament to an era and immortalizing the club’s legacy for future generations. The documentary features candid, modern-day interviews with Chita Rivera, Sam Harris, Felipe Rose, Charlo Crossley, Melissa Rivers, Roslyn Kind, Lance Bass and Thelma Houston, along with former bartenders and patrons. 

Latino-owned Fuse Media revealed the official trailer of the ViX original documentary Unfightable, which is about Alana McLaughlin—a distinguished U.S. Army Special Forces Sergeant and transgender athlete fighting for control of her life and her narrative by competing as a professional MMA fighter, a press release announced. Unfightable will make its theatrical debut with a one-week run in New York beginning Sept. 13 at the Village East Theater, followed by a week-long run in Los Angeles at Laemmle Noho 7. The documentary will make its exclusive world television premiere for Spanish-language audiences on ViX and in English on Fuse in the coming months. 

Count openly LGBTQ+ personal trainer Jillian Michaels among those who criticized the opening drag tableau in the 2024 Paris Olympics—even after being informed that it was not a nod to The Last Supper, Us noted. After the controversial performance, Olympics artistic director Thomas Jolly told French outlet BFMTV that the idea behind the tableau was “a grand pagan festival connected to the gods of Olympus” and not “The Last Supper.” However, Michaels then said, “The way to deny that it was [an insult to Christians was], like, ‘Uh-uh, it’s the feast of Dionysus.’ And it’s like, ‘No, it’s not.’” She then encouraged members of the LGBTQIA+ community to “be the change” they want to see in the world.

Out actor Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) is hosting Food Network’s Last Bite Hotel, which will debut Tuesday, Sept. 24, per a press release. On the show, eight chefs have been invited to a remote hotel for a game of resourcefulness and creativity—and each contestant may only bring 13 ingredients for their entire stay. As competitors are eliminated, they bequeath their remaining ingredients to chosen remaining challengers, making strategy and alliances a crucial part of surviving the competition. VIP guest judges checking into the hotel include Esther Choi, Cat Cora, Jose Garces, Alex Guarnaschelli, Judy Joo, Poppy O’Toole, Marcus Samuelsson, Michael Symon and Andrew Zimmern.

What Not To Wear reboot of sorts—Wear Whatever the F You Want—is officially in the works at Prime Video, with original hosts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly (both members of the LGBTQ+ community) set to return, according to Them. Based on the British reality series of the same name, the show initially ran for 12 seasons between 2003 and 2013. Each episode followed London and Kelly’s attempts to give a client a full makeover, complete with a new haircut and a brand-new wardrobe. The co-hosts had a public falling-out and engaged in a 10-year feud before reconciling for a What Not To Wear live tour in 2023.

Canada’s Wango Films finished filming on its upcoming feature Little Lorraine, which marks the big-screen debut of Latin artist J Balvin, known as the “Prince of Reggaeton,” Variety noted. The film also stars Stephen Amell (TV’s Arrow) and Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings). Directed by Grammy nominee Andy Hines, the movie is based on true events from the late 1980s, depicting a remote mining and fishing town that is transformed into a hub for a major cocaine smuggling operation. 

In transforming herself to portray opera diva Maria Callas in Maria, Angelina Jolie said at the film’s premiere in Venice that “the way I related to her, maybe a surprise, was probably the part of her that’s extremely soft and doesn’t have room in the world to be as soft as she truly was—as emotionally open as she truly was. …I share her vulnerability more than anything,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jolie spent about seven months preparing for the part. Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larrain has said his star’s preparation involved multiple stages, beginning by working with opera singers and coaches to master a professional singer’s posture, breathing and movement—as well as Callas’ accent. Maria, which Netflix has picked up, tells the story of Callas’ final days in Paris in the 1970s.

British singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor released a live version of her global hit “Murder on the Dancefloor” that was recorded at her sold-out Webster Hall show in New York earlier this summer as part of her first-ever headline tour in North America, per a press release. After featuring in the  final scene of Emerald Fennell’s much-talked-about 2023 film Saltburn, the 2001 single experienced a second breakthrough over 20 years after its original release—especially in the United States, where it’s now officially certified platinum with more than 580 million Spotify streams to date.  

Universal has officially released the first look of Jurassic World: Rebirth—the seventh film in the 31-year-old franchise—which stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey (Fellow Travelers) and Mahershala Ali, Variety noted. According to an official summary, the film will be set five years following the events of Jurassic World: Dominion, when “the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs.” Johansson’s character is a covert ops expert named Zora Bennett, who has been hired to lead the team extracting DNA from the three most gargantuan dinosaur species left alive. Ali plays Zora’s partner, Duncan Kincaid, and Bailey plays a paleontologist named Dr. Henry Loomis.

Non-binary actor Amanda Stenberg said she wasn’t surprised that Disney+ canceled their show The Acolyte after one season, per Variety. The lead of the Star Wars series shared a statement on her Instagram story reflecting on the “rampage of hyper-conservative bigotry and vitriol” that they faced after being cast. In part, they said, “There has been a rampage of vitriol that we have faced since the show was even announced, when it was still just a concept and no one had even seen it. That’s when we started experiencing a rampage of, I would say, hyper-conservative bigotry and vitriol, prejudice, hatred and hateful language [toward] us.” Stenberg added, “It has been an incredible honor and dream for me to be in this universe.”

Wendy Williams was spotted for the first time in more than a year at a holistic store in New Jersey, Page Six noted. An employee at Bolingo Balance in Newark exclusively told the outlet that the former talk-show host visited the shop—run by the late Dr. Sebi’s son, Victor Bowman (who shared a photo of them on Facebook)—with her son, Kevin Hunter Jr. Williams was described as “sharp, upbeat and aware” and “very bubbly” during the visit, which included a sit-down with Bowman to discuss the health products. Williams has been keeping a low profile since March 2023—the last time she was publicly photographed. In February, Williams’ team announced she was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

NYC Chef Jeremy Salamon has released his debut cookbook, Second Generation, per a press release. Salamon——a second-generation Hungarian Jew who lives with his partner, Michael—updates traditional Hungarian classics like meggyleves, a sour cherry Soup, while also including staples from his spot, Agi’s Counter, like the tuna melt, caraway Caesar salad and the chilled buttermilk borscht. 

The upcoming Peacock limited series Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy has added five new series regulars, Variety reported. Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate), James Badge Dale (Savant), Michael Angarano (Oppenheimer), Chris Sullivan (TV’s This Is Us), and Marin Ireland are all set to star in the series. They will appear opposite Michael Chernus, who is set to play Gacy. The show is inspired by the 2021 Peacock docuseries John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise that was produced by NBC News Studios. Gacy, who lived in Chicagoland, infamously murdered 33 young men between 1972 and 1978 before his capture.

Julia Fox (Uncut Gems) has joined the cast of the upcoming LGBTQ+ romantic drama Perfect, according to Variety. In the movie, Fox will play a wealthy pregnant woman who is living out an escapist fantasy as she falls in love with a younger woman (played by Ashley Moore). Their sudden relationship is complicated by an upcoming birth, turbulent social events and conflicting values about the world’s future. Millicent Hailes—who has helmed music videos for artists such as Pussy Riot, Billie Eilish, Tinashe, Alok Vaid-Menon and Mia Khalifa—will make her directorial debut. Lio Mehiel (Mutt) and Debi Mazar (Younger) are in talks to join the cast.

Mariah Carey confirmed that mother Patricia and sister Alison died on the same day, according to People. “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” the Grammy-winning singer said in an exclusive statement. Patricia, who was previously married to Alfred Roy Carey, was a Juilliard-trained opera singer and vocal coach before the couple welcomed Alison, Mariah and son Morgan; the parents later divorced when the “Make It Happen” singer was 3.

The Foo Fighters said they didn’t approve of one of their songs (“My Hero”) being played during a Donald Trump rally in Arizona, Deadline noted. A Foo Fighters representative said in a statement to EW, “Foo Fighters were not asked permission, and if they were, they would not have granted it.” The band also noted that it would donate royalties generated from Trump’s usage of the song to Kamala Harris’ campaign. Recently, Celine Dion’s team also publicly rejected the Trump campaign using the singer’s “My Heart Will Go On” (the song and video) during a rally.

On social media, disgraced Call Me By Your Name actor Armie Hammer said he’s selling his beloved truck because he “can’t afford gas anymore,” according to PinkNews. After being accused of cannibalism and sexual assault, Hammer (The Social Network) disappeared from Hollywood and took with him the possibility of a sequel to Luca Guadagnino’s LGBTQ+ film Call Me By Your Name. Following the alleged abuse crimes, Discovery+ made House of Hammer, a three-part docuseries that investigated the accusations and dug into the actor’s family past. In 2023, Hammer broke his silence and stated his interest in BDSM originated from having been sexually abused as a child.

Even though there is a book sequel to It Ends With Us—called It Starts With Us—a film adaptation of the sequel (at least, with its original stars) is looking shaky, according to Variety. The feud between stars Blake Lively and Jusitn Baldoni (who also directed the film) has been detailed online. It started with rumors about hostility between Baldoni and the rest of the cast after he was not photographed with them at the Aug. 6 New York premiere. There’s also been speculation that Lively and Baldoni clashed over the final cut of the movie, with Lively’s preferred version as the one that reportedly made it to the big screen. Neither Baldoni nor Lively have discussed the chatter publicly, but multiple sources have said that the bad blood between the two is very real and the relationship may not be salvageable.

Tom Girardi—the once high-powered Los Angeles attorney accused of running a 10-year Ponzi scheme that defrauded his clients of millions of dollars in settlement funds—was convicted of four counts of wire fraud for diverting at least $15 million away from four of his clients, according to CBS News. During his trial, prosecutors argued he spent the stolen money on private jets and jewelry, maintaining a luxurious lifestyle with a sprawling Pasadena estate that was depicted on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the reality show starring his now-estranged wife, Erika Girardi, a pop singer who performs as Erika Jayne. In 2021, the allegations against the former personal injury attorney were the focal point of the Hulu documentary series The Housewife and the Hustler.

Following its recent debacle involving fabricated trailer quotes, Lionsgate‘s Francis Ford Coppola epic Megalopolis reportedly cut ties with marketing consultant Eddie Egan, according to Deadline. The quotes featured in a recent trailer, revealed by Vulture to be fake, were found to have been generated by AI following an investigation. Lionsgate had debuted its second trailer for Megalopolis, featuring past “criticisms” of Coppola’s now-iconic works by such famed critics as The New Yorker’s Pauline Kael and Village Voice’s Andrew Sarris.
