Ann Sather’s owner and former 44th Ward Ald. Tom Tunney (far right) and Lori Cannon of Heartland Alliance (second from right) delivered Thanksgiving turkeys for GroceryLand clients living with HIV/AIDS for the 40th consecutive year in 2024. Tunney was the first volunteer to work with Cannon at Open Hand/Chicago in 1988.
Cannon said, “With the current dark and miserable political environment we find ourselves in, I take comfort in those touches of goodness, such as the generosity of Tom [and] Ann Sather’s nourishing the AIDS community these past four decades. Tom never disappoints.”
