On the evening of Oct. 26, Leather Archives and Museum, 6418 N. Greenview Ave., held its annual Trident Chili Cook Off with leather and kink organizations competing in support of Broadway Youth Center.

Seven organizations participated this year including ONYX Chicago, Titans of the Midwest, Chicago Hellfire Club, Mr. Chicago Leather, Chicago Pet Patrol, Illinois Gay Rodeo Association and the relatively new Chicago Leather Dyke Picnic.

As in the past, audience members and supporters were encouraged to buy a $5 scorecard and rate each offering with extra enticements thrown in for good measure.

Justin of Chicago Hellfire Club auctioned off a rubber workshop as part of the club’s prize. Not to be undone, Emaly of Illinois Gay Rodeo Association explained how her chef Rob had been injured and that the group was auctioning off the prize of stripping him of his complicated chaps. The show nearly went off the rails with catcalls and heavy bidding until a lone voice from the back of the room yelled out, “It’s for the children!!!!”

Somewhat of an upset was Luisa of Chicago Leather Dyke Picnic snatching first place with their three-meat, two bean slow cooked entrant in only its second appearance at this event. Chicago Hellfire Club took second place with Illinois Gay Rodeo Association taking third place honors and audience favorite trophies. A total of $2,250.00 was raised for Broadway Youth Center.
