On Nov. 20, the Hebrew Seminary organized its second annual Trans Day of Remembrance service, “Zokherim — We Remember,” held at Anshe Emet Synagogue. 3751 N. Broadway.
The service was created in partnership with Anshe Emet, Keshet LGBTQ, JUF YLD Pride, Makom Shalom Mitziut, Mishkan Chicago, No Shame on U, SHALVA, Silverstein BASE Chicago, SketchPad Chicago, SVARA and Temple Sholom’s Or Chadash, and supported by a JUF Young Adult RoundTable grant.
The program included prayers, a TDOR poem by Jay Blue (recited by Wendy Singer), a musical piece inspired by Psalm 46 by Helena Dryjanski, and a Roses of Remembrance ceremony.
The event included five different breakout learning sessions;
