CHICAGO, IL (March 6-7, 14) – Hold on to your wigs! Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus proudly announces the return of its annual live-singing drag extravaganza, Lipstick & Lyrics: Bette, Barbra & Beyoncé, lighting up the stage at Chicago’s Center on Halsted. Tickets are available now at cgmc.org/lnl.

This year’s edition celebrates three legendary divas: Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, and Beyoncé. This show is a dazzling tribute packed with powerhouse vocals, high-energy choreography, and the signature heart and humor audiences have come to expect from CGMC.

Featuring 25 drag performers and 14 dancers, the production delivers a full-throttle celebration of diva royalty. Audiences can expect iconic hits including “One Way or Another,” “Happy Days,” “If I Were a Boy,” “People,” and more. From Broadway to pop anthems to fierce R&B, this show serves up some of the most delicious diva moments imaginable.

“Lipstick & Lyrics has become one of our most anticipated events of the year because it showcases the extraordinary talent within our membership in such a bold and joyful way,” said Kevin Corbett, Managing Director of Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus. “This show is a celebration of self-expression and the LGBTQ+ community. It’s uniquely CGMC.”

Under the direction of Artistic Director James J. Morehead, the live-singing format sets this production apart. Every note is performed live. “Our drag performers are not only embodying three of the most influential women in music history, they’re doing it while singing live and dancing,” said Morehead.

ABOUT CHICAGO GAY MEN’S CHORUS
The Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus (CGMC) has been an integral part of Chicago’s cultural and gay communities since 1983. For more than three decades, the chorus has entertained audiences across the continent with innovative musical programming exploring everything from love to politics to the sometimes fabulous, sometimes challenging world of being gay; often all at the same time. Our always-memorable performances have included original musical revues; full-length book musicals; traditional choral concerts and intimate cabaret presentations; all punctuated with our signature joyous irreverence. Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus was inducted into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 2001. Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs presented CGMC with the 2023 award for Outstanding Achievement in Arts and Humanities in honor of LGBTQIA+ history month in October 2023. The Chicago City Council passed a resolution celebrating CGMC’s 40th Anniversary in December 2023, and the Chorus was recognized by Mayor Brandon Johnson.
