The Chicago Bulls have waived guard Jaden Ivey for “conduct detrimental to the team” after he made anti-LGBTQ+ remarks during an Instagram rant, CBS Chicago noted.
On March 30, Ivey talked about how he felt the NBA celebrating Pride Month is “unrighteous” while also sharing controversial comments about abortion. In the same video, Ivey shared how listening to certain music is “wicked” for lyrics about drugs and sex.
Ivey—who was traded to the Bulls from the Detroit Pistons at the February deadline—played only four games before being shut down for the remainder of the season on March 26 to continue rehabbing from left knee pain.
Chicago coach Billy Donovan responded, “I think, organizationally, [there are] certain standards we want to have as an organization; [we] try and live up to those each and every day.”
The Bulls’ Pride Night was held on Jan. 10.
