On May 12, Rebecca Pope’s Something Profound Wedding Services and Mei Lin Photography restarted a tradition of holding a wedding show for LGBTQ+ couples headed down the aisle.
The Chicago Queer Wedding Show, which took place at The Joinery at 2533 W. Homer St., is the first such wedding show centering queer in several years.
The event featured vendors welcoming LGBTQ+ clients, including caterers, custom sartorial designers, a queer string ensemble, dance instructors, florists, mixologists, portrait artists, wedding photographers, DJs, video producers, and even a tyromancer (someone who practices fortune-telling using cheese).

Eve the Bunny also performed, with the event closing with a dance party.
Pope said that she was overjoyed to present this showcase and was surprised that despite selling 60 tickets before the event, people kept streaming in off the street to check out the show. One part of the show that surprised many was The Joinery’s space, which is part of a complex including a furniture business, an elegant event space, and a bed and breakfast all tucked away on a quiet residential street in Logan Square.

Businesses and craft persons participating in the event included Rosalind Phelps of First Step Social; playOUT, inc.; Jennifer Billock of Kitchen Witch Tyromancy; Uncommon Closet LLC; Emily Neumann’s Eco Wilde; White Lily Wonders Studio; Jamtramp; Green Spoon Kitchen; Eve the Bunny, Bespoke Flipbooks, Blush and Braids Beauty Bar; October Cafe; Reploge Studios; Mei Lin Photography; Cuddlepups; and Molly Schemper’s Fig Hospitality.
