Black Dove Theatre Company kicks off its 2004-2005 season with Stop Kiss by Diana Son, Oct. 14-24. Stop Kiss is directed by Black Dove Artistic Director Jennifer Dobby, and will run at Breadline Theatre Group’s Lab Space, 1801 W. Byron in Chicago.
When Sara abandons the Midwest for New York City, an innocent favor sparks a friendship with Callie, which quickly and quietly grows into one of romance. Just as Sara and Callie are finally able to express their feelings for each other, they find themselves victims of a horrific attack that thrusts both women and their relationship into the harsh spotlight—a situation for which neither is prepared. Stop Kiss is a moving exploration of love and survival, and the tension between remaining silent and bearing witness.
Featured in the Stop Kiss ensemble are: Mel Hard, as Callie, makes her Black Dove and Chicago debut with Stop Kiss. Kelly Belmont, as Sara, returns to the stage after an almost two-year hiatus. Most recently she appeared in March on My Grave at the Side Studio, The All Girl Revue at Bailiwick Repertory and Hamlet at Chase Park.
