A fundraiser for Florida’s Dolphin Research Center netted almost $1,500 for the facility, according to an e-mail from Karen Giocondi, the event organizer. The benefit was at Scot’s, 1829 W. Montrose, on New Year’s Day.
The center, which is a not-for-profit education and research facility, was damaged by Hurricane Wilma, which was the third Category 5 storm of the 2005 season—and the 21st storm of the year, MSNBC.com reported. Giocondi termed the fundraiser ‘a big success.’
