Advertising company Starcom MediaVest Group and consulting firm Hewitt Associates (both local businesses) are among the best and brightest, as far as the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is concerned.

The HRC—the nation’s largest LGBT civil rights organization—recently released its annual list of the Best Places to Work for GLBT Equality. A total of 142 companies that achieved this honor will use the 2007 ‘Best Places to Work for GLBT Equality’ seal to distinguish them as fair-minded employers. The seal is given to companies who score a perfect 100 on the HRC Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, which measures policies and practices implemented to promote fairness and equality in the workplace for GLBT employees.

Other area companies that received the rating include aerospace giant Boeing Co.; Motorola, Inc.; hotel behemoth Global Hyatt Inc.; and law firms McDermott Will & Emery LLP and Jenner & Block LLP. (The companies Hospira, Starcom MediaVest Group, JPMorgan Chase and Jenner & Block were profiled in the Dec. 20 issue of Windy City Times.)
