Citing the organization’s failure to file properly forms for three years, the Internal Revenue Service has revoked the tax-exempt status of anti-gay group Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH).
AFTAH, based out of Naperville, has long been a thorn in the side of gay activists. Run by Peter LaBarbera, the group bills itself as a “national organization devoted exclusively to exposing and countering the homosexual activist agenda.”
The Southern Poverty Law Center has classified AFTAH as a hate group.
AFTAH joins a list of approximately 275,000 to lose their tax-exempt status on June 10 for failing to file annual returns. As a result, donations to AFTAH will no longer be taxdeductable.
According to Guidestar.com, a website that publishes information about non-profits, AFTAH failed to file a Form 990, 990-EZ, 990-N and a 990-PF.
