Actor Jim Parsons, 39—well-known as genius Sheldon Cooper on the TV show The Big Bang Theory—has officially come out of the closet, according to a Huffington Post item.

He revealed his sexuality in an interivew with New York Times writer Patrick Healy. Discussing Parsons’ role in the 2011 revivial of Larry Kramer’s Broadway drama The Normal Heart, Healy writes that Parsons “is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment, he said.”

Although the Times doesn’t identify Parsons’ partner, the actor thanked Todd Spiewak when he won an Emmy two years ago.

Tabloids reported that Parsons and Spiewak became engaged; however, the wedding was allegedly called off because Parsons did not want children, the Huffington Post reported.
