LGBT groups holdholiday mixer

On Dec. 4 at D.S. Tequila Company, 3352 N. Halsted St., doctors, lawyers and those in related fields mingled, imbibed and enjoyed light Mexican fare at a holiday mixer that the Lesbian & Gay Bar Association of Chicago, the Gay & Lesbian Medical Association of Chicago, Equality Illinois and SmithAmundsen sponsored.

Under the festive seasonal decorations of D.S. Tequila’s side room, well-suited or collared shirt and khaki-clad attendees ate chicken and ground beef tacos along with chips and salsa. The over 100 attendees were mostly male, varying in age, but skewing thirty to forty-something.

According to Moses Suarez, an associate at SmithAmundsen Chicago, the holiday mixer is “a chance for those in the legal and medical fields to network and make professional connections, as the two fields tend to have a lot of crossover.” This is the mixer’s fourth year, with past events held at Taverna and Scarlet, and it continually outgrows its venue.
