Four men are facing felony charges after they allegedly beat three people in Lakeview in the early hours Sunday morning.

According to a police statement, a group of people jumped out of a white stretch limousine and “began battering passerby on the street while other subjects in the limo videotaped.” The incident occurred on the 3500 block of North Clark at approximately 2:00 a.m.

A 27-year-old man suffered a broken jaw and was treated at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. A police officer and another man suffered minor injuries but were not hospitalized.

Corry Simmons, Donald Robinson, Alvin Goffin and Edward Robinson all face counts of felony mob action. Simmons and both Robinsons also face other charges.

The attack is one of a handful of recent violent crimes in Lakeview. A perceived influx in crime in the area last summer set residents on edge and stirred controversy over supposed racial profiling in the area.
