Personal PAC, a bipartisan political action committee devoted to electing pro-choice candidates to state and local offices in Illinois, is hosting its 13th Annual Awards Luncheon at 12 p.m. on Oct. 20 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker.
This year’s guest speaker will be Emmy Award-winning actress and civil-rights activist Alfre Woodard. She is probably best known for her role as Betty Applewhite on TV’s Desperate Housewives; however, it is her dedication to reproductive health and rights, both here in the U.S. and in Africa, that made her the right person to speak at this event.
The Irving B. Harris Spirit of Choice Award will be presented to longtime reproductive rights supporter Leo A. Smith. Over the years, Smith has lobbied Illinois government on a variety of legal, health-care and children’s issues, and has devoted countless hours to state candidates who embody the ideals of reproductive freedom.
Ticket prices for the event start at $100 and can be reserved by calling 312-422-0005 or by visiting www.personalpac.org.
