An intimate group of friends and colleagues recently gathered to honor and say their goodbyes to Shannon Sullivan, the outgoing executive director of The Illinois Safe Schools Alliance (the Alliance), at an event at the law firm Baker & McKenzie. Board members and staff gave touching speeches praising Sullivan for her many years of hard work and dedication in ensuring the safety, support and healthy development for all LGBTQ students.

The Alliance’s board of directors announced that night that a GSA scholarship fund was started in her name. The Shannon Sullivan GSA Scholarship Fund will provide financial assistance to LGBTQ students wishing to pursue higher education.
