Carl Lamar Davenport—an exceptional floral designer and co-owner of Davenport Design who was born in Pennsylvania raised in Macon, Georgia—passed away unexpectedly at home in Evanston on Jan. 23. He was 54.

He is survived by his beloved partner of 30 years, Scott Christopher Rigney. Carl was also the son of the late Joyce Lee Stewart and Carl Lee Davenport; in addition, he is survived by siblings Connie (Richard) Peterman, Michele (Timothy) Rowland-Daoust Hill and Robert H. Rowland Jr.

Carl was the beloved uncle of many; devoted godfather of Savastiana “Savi” Valle; and the faithful companion of Acacius the Big Black Dog.

Carl was an irrepressible spirit with a huge heart and will be missed deeply.

A springtime memorial service is being planned.
