The next segment of In The Life TV newsmagazine is on WTTW Channel 11 Sunday, March 25, 11:30 p.m. This episode is “Challenging Tradition: Opening Doors to the Gay Community.” It features gay, lesbian and straight individuals who are challenging mainstream institutions including the story of Samantha Geller, teenage playwright, whose work Life Versus the Paperback Romance was deemed unsuitable after winning the Charlotte Young Playwright’s Festival; Michele Kammerer, one of the few female fire chiefs in the U.S.; medical marijuana activist Dennis Peron; the Reverends Jimmy Creech and Cecil Williams; the lesbigay parenting boom with an interview with Dan Savage; and Sheila Alexander-Reid, an African-American lesbian and entrepreneur who publishes Women In the Life magazine.
