Veteran filmmaker Christin Baker, who launched the successful LGBTQ+, SVOD platform, Tello Films, in 2009—the first network dedicated to telling stories featuring and about lesbian/queer women—announced the launch of a new production entity, A Baker Production.
With offices in Nashville and Los Angeles, A Baker Production will specialize in bigger-name productions across all genres, while Tello Films will continue to produce LGBTQ+ films for the successful Tello Films queer streaming network and serve as the companies’ distribution arm.
The following works are first up under the Baker Films 2021 production umbrella, and are both slated for release in fourth quarter:
—The holiday romcom Christmas at the Ranch is in post-production. It stars Lindsay Wagner (Grey’s Anatomy; SyFy’s Warehouse 13; The Bionic Woman), Amanda Righetti (Captain America: The First Avenger, Friday the 13th, The Mentalist), Archie Kao (Chicago P.D.; CSI: Crime Scene Investigations; TV’s Power Rangers) and Laur Allen (The Young and the Restless).
— Also in post-production is the feature-length documentary A League of Our Own—in collaboration with Spotlight Productions—which celebrates the 30-year legacy of the International Women’s Flag Football Association, which has been using the vehicle of flag football to empower young women from around the world. The film includes interviews with Kelly McGillis (Showtime’s The L Word; Top Gun; Witness); author, journalist, motivational speaker and long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad; and many others who have supported the organization over the years.
Commented Baker, “I’m very excited to be expanding our breadth of filmmaking with the launch of Baker Films and look forward to making bigger production films and entertaining new audiences in addition to our beloved queer community, which has staunchly supported us since our inception.”
