After years of fruitless searching, dead ends and false hope, I have finally found my shoe brother. He, unlike anyone else on Earth, shares the selfsame footwear I wear. And at Clark’s on Clark of all places. I can now die a fulfilled man.
Congratulations to the organizers of Bar Aids, the one-night-only extravaganza raising much-needed fundage for AIDS research. It certainly packed the bars for a Thursday and gave me plenty to do.
First stop was Cocktail. The lovely and talented Paté was quick to remind me that I had not photographed her visage in quite some time. My bad.
Then to Gentry where I relaxed to the strains of John Jones’ debut rendition of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Help Me,’ from my all-time favorite album Court and Spark. After the thump-thump junk at other bars, Mr. Jones’ pipes provided a proper respite for my weary ears.
Spin did their part for the cause as well. That Ken’s always looking so tired. One day we’ll share a swing at the old gay men’s home. No time soon, I hope.
My friend Bill, food and wine writer for the Tribune was busted at Big Chicks snacking on onion rings and beer. What would the elite say?
And then to T’s, where the eager barstaff was more than willing to tongue a rose for this week’s cover. Such willing tongues at T’s.
