After several years and 200 appearances across the nation, the genre- and gender-bending troupe known as the Chicago Kings will perform for the final time on Dec. 16 at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark, at 9 p.m. The group will conclude its journey with a bang, showcasing the large ensemble pieces that have earned it fame within the LGBTQ community.

According to the troupe’s Web site, the Kings were founded in February 2001 by Pussy Galore, Mr. Izzie Big, Maxx Hollywood and Harley Poker. The mission of the group has been ‘to create a positive community that celebrates diversity in masculinities, genders, sexualities and cultures.’

The event will also feature performances by the North Carolina Cuntry Kings, a group that, according to a Kings press release, ‘fashion [s] feminist anti-racist drag performance from the raw material of pop culture, Southern queer experience, and national disgrace.’ Tickets are $16 and are available through Ticketmaster.
