Time is running down until Chicago’s next favorite up-and-coming gay style and design leader will be revealed to receive the highly-respected 2005 VOX/OUT Emerging Voices of Style + Design Award.

Gay Chicagoans finished nominating their pick of a local artist or designer who is just starting out, and the winner will be announced July 27. VOX representatives stopped at bars throughout the city to get people to cast their votes. Since 2001, Out magazine and VOX Vodka have celebrated gays and lesbians in the industry whose work has made an impact on American style. This year, the focus has shifted to recognize artists and designers who are just beginning to establish their names.

This year’s honorees will be selected by local gay residents and past honorees from five cities: Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Miami. Chicago will be the first city to choose a winner. Past recipients include designer Todd Oldham.

People are also encouraged to register online for an invitation to the Chicago VOX/OUT Awards event. The location has not yet been disclosed.
