U.S. Rep. Mary Miller (R-Illinois) has introduced the Defining Male and Female Act, which she said would “constitutionally” define gender as “male and female,” Fox 11 News reported.

Per her official website, Miller represents the 15th District of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and is vice chair of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. Mary is also the chair of the Congressional Family Caucus.

Miller proposed the measure two days before the Biden administration’s new Title IX regulations took effect on Aug. 1. The Title IX regulations broaden the law to ban discrimination based on gender identity.

Miller claimed, “Since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office, they have obliterated Title IX, allowing confused and predatory men into women’s sports and restrooms. The Defining Male and Female Act would provide clear legal definitions so that neither the Biden administration nor any future administration can redefine Title IX.”  Twelve other members endorsed Miller’s proposal, including U.S. Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) and Claudia Tenney (R-New York).

“For more than 50 years, Title IX has promised an equal opportunity to learn and thrive in our nation’s schools free from sex discrimination,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in April, per WGME. “These final regulations build on the legacy of Title IX by clarifying that all our nation’s students can access schools that are safe, welcoming, and respect their rights.”
