A day after receiving no nominations for the GLAAD Media Awards, the trans-centered musical Emilia Pérez led all films with 13 Oscar nominations.

Among the movie’s nods were Best Film, Best Director (Jacques Audiard) and Best Actress for Karla Sophia Gascon—making her the first openly trans actor ever nominated for an Oscar, the AP noted. The movie is the most-nominated non-English film of all time, per TheWrap.

Wicked garnered 10 nominations, including best picture as well as acting nods for stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

The reason GLAAD did not nominate Emilia Pérez goes back to last year. On Nov. 15, GLAAD released the report “‘Emilia Pérez’ is Not Good Trans Representation,” saying the movie is “a step backward for trans representation,” choosing to praise the documentary Will & Harper instead.

As for LGBTQ+ nominees, Colman Domingo received his second Oscar nomination for his role in Sing Sing; he’ll compete against Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Timothee Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave) and Sebastian Stan (the Donald Trump origin movie The Apprentice). Queer actresses Erivo and Gascon will compete against Mikey Madison (Anora), Demi Moore (The Substance) and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here).

Deadline noted some surprises and snubs. Among the snubs were Denzel Washington (Gladiator II), Daniel Craig (Queer), Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Wicked director Jon M. Chu, the film Challengers and Nicole Kidman (Babygirl). Surprises included Stan and Felicity Jones (The Brutalist).

Actors Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang announced the nominees for the 97th Academy Awards in a live broadcast on Jan. 23. The 97th Academy Awards will take place on March 2.
