On Feb. 13, the Chicago-based chapter of Build Out Alliance held its inaugural event at Sidetrack Chicago, 3349 N. Halsted St.
The Alliance, which has chapters in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington D. C., advocates for and empowers LGBTQ+ individuals within the design, construction and real estate industries.

Chicago Build Out Alliance President Andrew Torres and Co-Chairs Carlo Calma and Rachel Droullard were joined Feb. 13 by Alds. Lamont Robinson (4th Ward), Bennett Lawson (44th) and Maria Hadden (49th), and Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Precious Brady-Davis. Guest speaker at the event was Bonsai Bermudez, formally of the Youth Empowerment Performance Project (YEPP).
