Howard Brown Health Center (HBHC) announced that Dr. Rob Garofalo, director of youth services at the facility and director of the adolescent HIV program at Children’s Memorial Hospital, was named president of the prestigious Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA). GLMA, a national organization based in San Francisco, works to ensure equality in healthcare for LGBT individuals and health care professionals.
Garofalo began his tenure at GLMA’s 23rd Annual Conference, held in Montreal Sept. 22-24. ‘I am honored to be taking this position at GLMA,’ he said. ‘The work that GLMA is doing is so important. Their focus on public policy, education, research, and LGBT disparities in health care is critical to the health and well-being of our community.’
