On Wednesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. the Chicago Commission on Human Relations Mayor’s Advisory Council on Veterans Affairs, and the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Gay and Lesbian Issues will host a ‘Salute to GLBT Veterans’ in Daley Plaza.
Jim Darby, secretary for American Veterans for Equal Rights, and a member of the Mayor’s Veterans Council, said AVER has been working for this recognition of Chicago’s GLBT veterans for many years.
Thanks to the efforts of Rochelle Crump, Director of ACVA, and Bill Greaves, Director of ACGLI it is about to happen.
State Rep. Larry McKeon, a gay veteran, will be the keynote speaker.
