Having just released their second album, Volume II, Super 8 Cum Shot is riding high. They are loud, rowdy, and irrepressibly queer. Queer in a raw and dirty sense, not in some head-up-your-ass overly political sense. Their lyrics are whipsmart. Funny without being stupid. Relevant without being preachy. Are they at times a bit puerile? Absolutely, as they should be. This band’s roots are firmly in garage and punk.

The discs are good, but to truly appreciate S8CS you need to see them live. They put on an absolutely fantastic show. Fortunately, you have two opportunities coming up to see them. S8CS is performing in Rorey Lake’s Battle of the Bands at the Bottom Lounge, 3206 N. Wilton. The doors for the 21+ show open at 8:00 PM. S8CS should take the stage sometime around 10:00 PM. The cover is $8. You can also catch them January 28th at the Cell Block, where they are hosting the monthly band nights (last Wednesday of the month). This month the show also features Bang Bang, Stewed Tomatoes, and Lynyrds Innards. Doors for the 21+ show open at 8:00 PM. Cover is $8.
