The Rocks Coordinating Committee (RCC) is best known or its day-long Montrose Harbor Pride celebration that takes place on Pride Sunday. This year, the committee will continue its tradition of health prevention outreach in the LGBT Black and Latino communities by addressing the rising increase of syphilis, hepatitis and HIV infection rates among minority populations.

The RCC event will be held Sunday, June 25 at the Cricket Hill area at the Montrose and Lake Shore Drive exit from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. This year’s health pavilion will include services such as rapid HIV testing and syphilis screenings.

Previous Rocks PRIDE Day event speakers have included such notables as U.S. Representatives Jesse Jackson, Jr., and Jan Schakowsky. This year’s tentatively scheduled speakers include Chicago Dept of Public Health Dept. Commissioner Terry Mason and Equality Illinois’ Rick Garcia.
